Carolyn Kropp for Alta Vista - Ward 18

Carolyn was born and raised in the ward, attended St. Luke’s elementary school, St. Patrick’s Intermediate and Hillcrest High School. She completed a Master’s degree in Public Administration at Carleton University. She and her husband are raising their 4 children here.

She has deep roots in the community and has been a dedicated advocate and volunteer. She has helped lead local volunteer organizations such as the Alta Vista Cooperative Nursery School, Pleasant Park School Council and the grassroots not-for-profit Màmawi Together. She is currently a Board member of the Perley Health Foundation, Treasurer for Màmawi Together and Treasurer for Hillcrest Parent Council. She has also volunteered for local organizations such as Canterbury hockey and Girl Guides of Canada.

Carolyn has further served the community while working alongside Ottawa South MPP John Fraser since 2016. She has come to know and care about the people who live, work and raise their families here while advocating on behalf of numerous local organizations, businesses, community associations, leaders and residents. She intimately knows and has dealt with many of the major issues for Alta Vista Ward and for the City of Ottawa as a whole.

She is a leader, critical thinker and problem solver, knows how to collaborate well with multiple levels of government offices and staff, and is an effective communicator.

She is a runner, cyclist and triathlete and has completed numerous marathons and 1/2 marathons. Her determination and dedication are highlighted by the fact that she qualified and competed for Team Canada at the 2018 ITU Triathlon World Championships in Australia for her age group. You can usually see her around the neighbourhoods walking their Great Dane.

She is fluently bilingual in English and in French.
